2.png

CHBE’s Healing Lab afterschool healing arts program supports youth, ages 14-21 who have faced trauma or experienced the loss of a loved one due to violence or overdose. Join us for eight weeks of structured artmaking, storytelling, and community dialogues designed to offer youth a safe space to process their grief, build emotional literacy, and connect with peers who share similar experiences.

This program integrates art therapy principles, culturally responsive practices, and youth-centered creativity to foster healing, agency, and belonging.

The Healing Lab is an 8-week healing arts program designed for youth impacted by grief, loss, and community violence. Through creative expression, guided workshops, and community support, participants are given space to process, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

Youth Impact Goals

1. Strengthen emotional literacy and confidence expressing emotions related to grief & trauma

2. Build coping tools through creative expression

3. Deepen peer support and communities of trust & belonging

4. Explore their narratives and healing through art

Our First Cohort

We are proud to share that we have successfully concluded our inaugural Healing Lab pilot program, which took place from May - June 2026.

Over the course of eight weeks, 35 youth participants engaged in art-making, storytelling, movement, and facilitated discussions led by art practitioners, licensed clinicians, and community leaders. Together, we cultivated a space rooted in care, expression, and collective healing. This pilot affirmed the importance of creative outlets in supporting emotional wellness and meaningful connection among young people.
